What is PDRN, and what it does for your skin - MAXCLINIC

You've probably seen "PDRN" appearing on serum labels and in your feed lately. It's one of the ingredients behind Korea's shift from beauty products to clinical-style skincare — but what actually is it?

What is PDRN?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. In skincare, it's most commonly derived from salmon, and it's an ingredient that's long been used in professional and clinical settings. More recently, it's been formulated into topical products you can use at home — which is exactly where Maxclinic comes in.

One honest note up front: because our PDRN is salmon-derived, it isn't vegan, and it may not suit anyone with a fish allergy. We always list full ingredients on each product page, so check there if you have specific sensitivities.

What PDRN does for skin

PDRN is best known for supporting the look of tired, stressed skin. In a topical formula, it's typically paired with hydrating and soothing ingredients to help skin feel comforted and look more revived. It's a popular choice for people whose skin feels worn down — by late nights, weather, or an over-busy routine.

It pairs especially well with hydration, so layering a PDRN step under a good moisturiser is a simple way to get the most from it.

How to use it

Use a PDRN ampoule as a treatment step — after cleansing and toning, before your moisturiser. Most people use it morning and night. A few drops pressed gently into the skin is enough.
